Mario's Fundraiser Update

A post from Barbara:
"Yesterday, I finally received word that an emergency DP that I had sent for Mario had finally arrived. As you can see Mario is always very happy when he receives his direct packages. It was sent on 2nd December and did not arrive in Chile until mid June!! As Mario's present fund-raiser outlines the family are in dire straits after having to flee their home due to domestic violence with only a few of their possessions. His mother had sent me a list of things that they needed urgently which I immediately sent only to be frustrated that they took so long to arrive. The family are now living in rented accommodation which only leaves them about $40.00 a month to live on so their need is great. With their winter beginning now and South America suffering from one of their coldest winters on record the need for blankets and other bed-ware is urgent. So, if any of you are able to spare a few dollars for Mario's fund-raiser I and Mario's family would be most grateful. Thanking you in advance. Cheers

Barbara"

Direct Package to Isaura in Colombia

A post from Chenelle:
The post below has all been taken from my liftone blog. I have decided to post it for those who may not follow the site.
Finally, the long awaited letter has arrived. As many of you may or may not be aware of, I sent a package to Isaura in Colombia late February. You can read my blog about it here.
She received it in June. I am very excited because I was not expecting it to arrive as early as today since Debbie told me it was mailed Friday. Kudos to the speedy workers at CI. Isaura was very happy to receive her package.
Here is what she wrote:
"Dear Chenelle, I hope this letter finds you well. I love you very much. Thank you very much for sending me all those beautiful things. I am very happy. I thank you for sending me chocolates. 3 lip glosses, 5 candy necklaces, a package of ponytail holders, a soap, a pair or socks,2 packages of pens, a personal hygiene kit,2 nail polishes, a perfume,2 notebooks, a pair of pants, 2 blouses, a skirt, a dress and a t-shirt. You are my best friend. I'd never like to be separated from you. You are like a sister to me and you are very beautiful. I say goodbye with love, Isaura"
Let me start off by saying Im am very glad she has been calling me by my first name in the last few letters. Im glad she sees me as a sister, that is also how I see her since we are not too far apart in age. I cant wait until she receives her second, smaller package.

My Preschool Twins

Are these not the cutest little 4 year olds you have ever seen!? Elizabeth and Margret stole my heart the minute I saw them. I had already been looking at sponsoring siblings, and twins is always a good option. In fact, we have several sets of twins in the CHZ program. I was just introduced to these little ones this morning. They will be 5 years old in December. I am sure they will be excited to learn they will be able to go to preschool and get a pair of shoes, school supplies, book bag, etc. In 2 years, they will be able to start primary school, but until then, they can learn a lot at the early education center established by Child Hope Zambia.

Now, the deal was I would sponsor one child for every 7 children that were sponsored by others (for a max of ten children). I was up to 9 children already because sponsors had been found for 63 children in less than two months! Now, we are up to above 70, so I am supposed to take on my one last child. However, I just could take one of the girls and not the other! Plus, I took on a sibling of one of my other children when I had intended to focus on the girls, so I took on another 1st grader as well. That brings me to a grand total of 12. We have close to 90 children sponsored now, and the program has only been around for 2 1/2 months!

We have plenty more children who are waiting and praying for a sponsor. If you would like to help one of these children for only $9 a month, visit www.childhopezambia.blogspot.com

That's a Record!!

I posted a few days ago about making a goal of getting Chinyama Mizinga to smile. I expected it to take a while. After all she was scowling while holding her mosquito net. However, her sponsor sent her a package which contained a pair of crocs and some other items. Does she look happy, or what!? What a cutie!!

Summer Reading Package~ Zambia

Here is the latest photo of Mwanza wearing a shirt I sent him a while back. Isn't he handsome?!

I sent an inquiry to CI to see if the summer reading package had made it to Zambia yet. They said that no packages for Mwanza have been received. Has anyone received word from their Zambian children about the package? I am not sure why it takes so darn long! Frustrating!

Direct Package to Pearl in the Philippines

A post from Barbara:
I recently received this letter from Pearl to thank me for her large box full of a year's supplies of items. Because it is much cheaper to ship a huge box to the Philippines rather than several smaller packages I collect things on sale during the year and then send them altogether. It also enables me to send larger and heavier items such as cans of food, a pillow, collapsible chair, large Teddy Bear, wellington boots, umbrella, etc., These items and many others can be seen in the photos.

Dear Sponsor

Hellow there! I am so happy to write a thank you letter for you! I hope your doing fine like us here.

I wanna say thank you for the direct package you sent for me and to my family. I have now pillow, toys, canned goods, stuffed toys, rice, towel, assorted clothes, books, umbrella, mug, Barbie necklace, book kit, Olympic mascot, accessories and many more.

Thank you very much. I appreciate it very much. My God bless you always.

Love Pearl Daphne

Only $30 more needed!!

Roselle only needs $30 more to make the necessary improvements to her family home!! To help, visit her fundraising page here

Goal: To Make These Girls Smile Before the End of the Year!

“The world is not interested in what we do for a living. What they are interested in is what we have to offer freely - hope, strength, love and the power to make a difference! ”

Only $99 more to go!!

Roselle's fundraiser is going well. She only needs $99 more to have enough money to improve the family's home. You have really got to take a look at her home in order to see why this is so needed. If you haven't yet seen Roselle's page, please go to her fundraising page at look at the picture of her in front of her house. Her fundraising page can be found here. It takes so little to make big things happen, and this is no exception. Roselle really needs your help. Thank you!!

Children Sponsored in May Giving Thanks to their Sponsors

Ashes Munyumbwe expressed his happiness in being sponsored. The rest of the group gets an English lesson to learn how to pronounce "helping", and in order to express their thanks to their sponsors.

Here is Hanantonga Malambo coloring a picture for his sponsors. Tebby Muloba is in the background peeking around. The two boys are probably in the same preschool. I am not sure who brought Hanantonga to distribution day, but it looks like it is probably his sister- She is who brought him last time as well.
