Christmas Package Received~ Iris in the Honduras

Lisa's sponsor child Iris in Honduras has already received her Christmas package! Iris' mother expressed her thanks, and said that she hopes to meet Lisa in person one day. I have received a few other photos from some of you, so I will be posting those soon, too.

Brayan's Fundraiser

Here's little Brayan- Just too cute for words! Brayan currently does not have a bed to sleep on. This fundraiser will provide him and his siblings with a bed set to share. Meet Gleny!

This is Gleny. She is my newest child. I was set and not going to sponsor any more kids. But I was on Liftone and another sponsor had started to sponsor this little ones twin sister. She was looking for a sponsor for Gleny so she wouldn't feel left out. I could not resist this face. So even though soon I will have to start selling body parts I have added her to my family. She is 3 years old and lives in Chile. She has 2 siblings, her twin sister and a brother who is 5. They live with relatives since both parents abandoned the kids. I look forward to getting to know her and watching her grow. Liz (her sisters sponsor) and I look forward to doing what we can for this family. First up is money for a birthday party! The twins turn 4 in the middle of June. We are going to split the cost and send money for a party!

Katerine's Easter Package

I received the report today on Katerine in Guatemala's Easter package. She looks adorable. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I only got one picture. That has never happened before. But she looks happy and sweet. I have just sent in the money for her to have a birthday party May 17th! She turns 7 years old.

What were the Child/familys comments when the gifts were delivered?

Anthony and his mother were very happy to receive this donation. Mrs. Patate commented she is very grateful to the sponsor for all the support her son receives through the program. Little Anthony was very glad with the new ball; he will enjoy playing with it. Anthony and his mother sent the sponsor a big hug and all their gratitude and love.

How will the gifts benefit the child and/or family?
Thanks to the sponsor's generous contribution, little Anthony and his mother were provided with some groceries. It was something they really needed, because their economical situation is very hard. As Anthonys mother works doing laundry by hand, her income is very low, so they face a very difficult situation. However, thanks to the sponsors donation, they will enjoy a better and more balanced diet that will let them be strong and healthy.

I got this report today from a direct package I sent Brayan in February for Easter.

His mom wrote:

Jessica's Emergency Fundraiser Pictures!

Here are the photos from the wheelchair fundraiser for Jessica and from the walker I provided. The left over money was used for ankle braces for Jessica that she needed in order to safely use the walker. They also used money for her to see a specialist and they had a doctor and therapist come with them when they went for the walker and wheelchair so they were assured they were getting the right size.

Lizabeth's Special Needs Gift

I had a special needs request for Lizbeth for a bed. I sent the money and some extra in the middle of Feb and got back the report today. Could she be smiling any bigger? She is so cute. Anyway she received:

1 pajamas

The report says:
Lizbeth was so happy when she was told she received a new bed. The child commented: "I am a lucky girl. I have a wonderful sponsor!" Lizbeth and her family are very grateful to the sponsor for such a nice gesture towards them. Lizbeth also said she always prays to God to bless the sponsor for her kind heart. The child and her family sent the sponsor a big hug and lots of kisses.

How will the gifts benefit the child and/or family?
Thanks to the spnsors generuous contribution Lizbeth was provided with a new bed, a matress, bedding, and some groceries for the family. The bed was somethng the child really needed, because the family used to share one single size bed. However, thanks to this kind donation Lizbeth will sleep more comfortably at night. The bedding will also be helpful for the child, as she will sleep warmer, especially now that we are in the winter season.

Lisa's Surprise Child Anthony

You guys may remember a post about Anthony. He was my surprise child. I opened my CI account online one day to find him added in there. I had forgotten I asked CI to see whether my sponsor child Jessica's cousin who lived with her was sponsored. Well right after he turned 2 they signed him up and put him in my care! He is a little cutie isn't he? He is 2 years old and lives with his mom, grandma, and Jessica. His mom makes less then $100 a month. They live in a very tiny attic apartment. I received his medical report also and he is in excellent health! I look forward to watching him grow up! I am expecting some SNG pictures soon.

Meet Lisa's Child Jhojaris in Colombia

This is Jhojaris. I have been sponsoring her for just a couple months. I am hoping that Steve will get to meet her in Barranquilla in just a few weeks! She has 5 siblings. I received today their family photos, medical and education reports, and special needs requests. The report says they live in terrible living conditions and need a lot. But for the first two needs they asked for $100 for a bed. All 7 people sleep in 2 beds right now. They also asked for $100 because Jhojaris does not have any sneakers for gym and her daily shoes she is wearing do not fit her. Plus they don't have adequate food. I will be trying to do this for her asap. I know I can do one right away but will try for both. I would also like to see if the mother would be interested in an IGP. The father abandoned the family and the mother doesn't work so she can care for the kids. Sometimes the father sends very little money and sometimes he doesn't.

Special Needs Gift for Lisa's Jostin in Ecuador

Not too long ago I asked for prayers for my sweet Jostin. He was admitted into the hospital and I have been waiting on an update to see if he had been released and more information. That will take time to come in. But today I received the SNG report back. Since he is in the pictures I am guessing he is on the road to recovery.

Direct Package to Jessica in Ecuador

This from a direct package I sent Feb 1st. I got the report today! Seems like DPs are geting through to Ecuador ok as long as you do the declaration as $1 and they are in envelopes!

I sent this Direct Package out to Jessica on February 1st. It was received by the office on Fenruary 22 and given to Jessica on March 4th. The notes portion on the memo said the following : Jessica could not stop smiling when she received the nice presents from her sponsor. She was very happy with the books and the crayons, because she likes to paint. Her grandmother was with her and said : "I am so grateful to my grandaughter's sponsor, because she makes my child happier with her support. I hope that God bless her always and some day she will be able to visit us."

And Jessicas letter said:
Dear Sponsor,
Hello, how are you? It makes me happy to greet you. Thank you for helping me and for the pretty gift and stickers given. Thanks for the drawings and crayons. I'm going to use them to pain in my coloring book. It's fun to paint. That's my favorite pastime. The barrettes are pretty. I like to wear them. I liked the gloss. It's pretty and I get to wear it to avoid my lips from drying. I'm doing well in school. Thank you for worrying about me. Thank you for everything. God bless you and your family. Emergency Fundraiser for Jessica's Wheelchair

While we don't have the official report back with the thank you letter and everything, I thought you would enjoy seeing one of the pictures from the emergency fundraiser. Jessica looks so happy to be able to get around with her walker, doesn't she?! And check out those "snow tires" that grandma has. She got the wheelchair with regular wheels + additional tires for rough terrain. It makes me want to get a wheelchair for myself ,so I can ride around it style like Jessica is going to!! Thank you for helping Jessica get her wheelchair!!!

The First Response from the Summer Reading Packages!!!

Lisa's child Brayan E lives in Barranquilla, Colombia. They were the first ones to get a package from the summer reading program. The package was shipped at the end of December. "The memo said the package arrived 1/27/2010 and Brayan received it 2/20/2010. They didn't put any comments on the memo like they have before. Notice in all 3 pictures what he is holding onto!" (quote from Lisa)

That means that the other photos and letters shouldn't be too far behind! Yay!!!

Meet Lisa's Katherine in Ecuador with her Family

Here is a picture of Lisa's Katherine in Ecuador and her whole family. In her first letter to me she told me she couldn't wait, she was getting a brother. As you can see he was born....so sweet!

Will the real Brayan please stand up?

You remember the story of Brayan E, Lisa's sponsor child, right? The picture on top, is the real picture of Brayan. As you can see, the two boys look nothing alike! But they are both cute as can be, aren't they?!

Meet Jostin & his family!

This is the other family picture that Lisa got. She sponsors Jostin (the one on his mom's lap). They look like such a sweet family. Unfortunately, they are struggling. Jostin has a health condition that requires a lot of care, and it is up to his mom to do it all. In addition, she must provide food & shelter for her family& take care of the other 2 children. The father decided to walk out, and has left everything on the mother's shoulders!!

The little girl, Jostin's sister, is available for sponsorship. It would be nice for her to have a sponsor that could help Lisa help this family- via an IGP, or some of the other needs that would make the mother's load a little lighter. The Answer to the "Simple Puzzle"

Now try to follow me on the answer- Lisa received the picture of annual photo of "Brayan" when she began sponsoring him at the beginning of January. She asked for pictures of Brayan with his family, and none of the boys look like the picture of "Brayan". The older child with the red shirt is definitely older than 3, but he does have the protruding ears... The younger one looks MUCH smaller than "Brayan" in the annual photo... Lisa and I were discussing back and forth which one of the boys was actually Brayan. We couldn't conclude that either of them were. The best plan of action at that point is to contact CI!

Lisa contacted Greg who sent a message to the field office in Barranquilla. The answer was astounding- Not only was the annual picture NOT the Brayan that she has been sponsoring, but he isn't related to Brayan at all... Which now makes a person think, since you have formed a bond with a picture of a child that is not your sponsor child (but you thought it was), should you take him as a sponsor child as well!?! What would you do?

By the way, her sponsor child Brayan is the one in the green shirt.
