This blog contains information about child sponsorship. All of the sponsors mentioned here support their sponsor children by making regular contributions that enable the sponsor children to receive health benefits, tuition support, food, and many other benefits. If you have ever doubted the value of becoming a sponsor- take a few moments to check out this blog. Most importantly, take note at the difference a special needs donation makes with our Make a Change fundraisers!

On the 4th Day of Christmas...

Today's raffle is for a $20 Bath and Body Works E-Gift Card or a $20 donation to your own fundraiser! The fundraiser this is benefitting is Diego of Ecuador. The funds will provide Diego's father with tools for his trade and allow him to get more jobs. Remember $1 gets you 1 raffle ticket, so every dollar counts!! The more you give, the more chances you have to win. To enter the raffle, make your donation to Diego's page here by December 5th at 10PM CST: http://www.firstgiving.com/constructiontoolsigp

Meet the MAC Staff!~ FirstGiving Page Coordinator

Ushering in our 2nd year in existence means bringing on new faces! These past few months have become busier and busier. A few months ago, I realized, there was no way I could do it all alone. Besides, who wants to do it alone when you can work with some great people instead!? I asked for volunteers for a few projects, and that is pretty much how it all started. I am happy to make these wonderful volunteers official staff of the MAC group!! They will all get a substantial salary- paid out not in US dollars but in millions positive emotions!! Don't believe me? There are studies and articles found everywhere to back this up. Check out this 2 page article on MSN: http://health.msn.com/health-topics/depression/articlepage.aspx?cp-documentid=100167285
(I wish we could get the positive emotions and the cash out of this job, but that would mean taking money away from the kids. As needy as myself and my family are, we are not even close to what these families are going through!)
Now, on with the introductions:
I am introducing you first to Heather Griffin. She is the person you will go to after you get your child's fundraiser breakdown from CI. She is our FirstGiving Page Coordinator! Once you know you have a slot in the MAC fundraiser waiting list, Heather G will know your slot number because she has the same fundraiser list that I have. Then, once you have the special needs breakdown, e-mail Heather G at hgriffins85@yahoo.com . You will want to send everything in one e-mail to her including the special needs breakdown, pictures (about 6), and a write up. Heather will put it all together for you into one pretty page :o)
This is a special presentation called "Getting to Know Heather Griffin":
My name is Heather and I am 24 years old. I live in Massachusetts. I have been sponsoring with Children International since 2001. The girl I first sponsored moved away after a year and a half of sponsorship and then the next girl they sent me already had a sponsor by the time I got her information. That's when I received the information of my Joyce. She is 12 years old from the Philippines, I have been her sponsor for almost 7 years. In July of 2008 I went to the CI website and chose Diego from Ecuador, he is now 7 years old. And just last November I chose 8 year old Michelle, also from the Philippines. I enjoy going to the movies, reading & bowling. I enjoy sending direct packages to my sponsored children. I work at a local supermarket. I like animals, especially my cat Milo who I have had for 6 years now. I hope to meet my sponsored children someday.

It's not too late to help little Diego

Little Diego is halfway to the completetion of his fundraiser: http://www.firstgiving.com/helpfordiegoThere is only $125 left to be able to help him and his family. If you haven't donated yet, and can donate before the end of the month, please do so. What's the rush? If we can raise all of the money by June 30th, he will get the funds for his project around the middle of July. If we can not raise what is needed before the end of the month, the funds will not be transferred to his field office until the middle of August. As you know, mosquitos can be deadly. One of the items he requested was a mosquito net. He, also, requested a bed.
If have already donated and can give a little more, every penny counts!! Thank you for your continued dedication to changing lives!!

Fundraiser Update

I promised an update... Sorry it will be short, but it will be an update... I will be working every day for the next few days, so squeezing in a post is difficult. I do have a couple of things I want to say, though...We have now completed 10 fundraisers!!! Fundraiser #9 completed today, and the emergency fundraiser, also, funded!!! Wondering how $300 was raised for the emergency project in less than 24 hours time? Dana set up a raffle amoungst her friends. She raffled off a $60 item & raised $300!!! Instead of just donating the $60, she thought she could raise more by buying a $60 item and raffling it off. Her investment quintupled (is that a word? LOL!)... Whatever, it was matched 5 times over!!!
I thought her idea of a raffle would be a great idea for others that may want to do the same. Especially as we get to these larger projects, we will need to think outside the box and become creative to get them funded. So, keep that in mind. Anyone else with ideas, send them my way, and I will post them for all to see.
Fundraiser #10 is our last small fundraiser, so now is the time for ideas!
Here is fundraiser #10 for "little diego": http://www.firstgiving.com/helpfordiego
