Summer Reading Package Received~ Joseline in Ecuador

The above photos are of Joseline, who lives in Ecuador. Her mother always
writes really informative letters. This time she wrote, "I greet you and
thank you very much for the gift you sent to my daughter. She is very
happy and liked it very much. She liked the princess doll you sent. She
was amazed by the Spongebob Squarepants story book. It is very nice. Let
me tell you that she began school and she studies in the mornings because
during the afternoons she plays and does her homework. She never misses an
episode of Spongebob Squarepants, of the Princesses and Barney. I really
thank you very much for putting a smile on my daughter's face, for the
gifts you sent."

Summer Reading Package Received- Damaris in Guatemala

I'd like to introduce Damaris from Guatemala. She is 10 years old. She lives with her mother and 4 siblings. By coincidence the summer reading packages we sent arrived right around her birthday, so she thought it was a birthday present :) . Her thank you letter reads:

"I am so happy to write you this letter and tell you how happy I am to be your sponsored child. Thank you for being so generous with me and also for helping me. Let me tell you that I received the gift from the mail. I am very happy with my gifts. God bless you. Let me tell you that my school is very nice. I have a new friend who plays with me at recess time and my school was recently painted. I am doing well in school. I am very happy for my 10th birthday. I love you very much."

Summer Reading Package Received- Susana in Mexico

Hello everyone! This is 3-year-old Susana, the youngest member of my sponsorship family. She's also one of the newest members of the family. I've only been sponsoring her about 6 months. She caught my eye because she has my birthday and a name very similar to my sister's. She lives in Mexico with her parents and two older sisters. I sent her a Summer Reading Package with dolls for all three girls and books that the family may be able to read to Susana.

The thank you letter, written by Susana's mom, reads:
"Thank you for the package you sent for my daughter Susana. She loves the Barbie dolls and the doll that is her baby. She's growing and learning more and she speaks better. On her birthday I bought her clothes and for dinner I cooked "tamales." She likes to play with her toy tea set, color and play with dolls. She also wants me to comb her hair with small rubber bands so she can look pretty. Thank you for sponsoring my daughter. Sincerely, her mom Primiana"

MIC Group on Ebay

Well, I am still waiting to hear back from one of the partners of Ebay's World of Good. I thought it would be all set up by the time the Ugandan items arrived, but it has not been set up still (after over 2 months of preparation). Because of this, I decided to see what the items would do on regular Ebay, at least until we have a World of Good account. Please take a look at their items & purchase the ones you like. All of the pieces are awesome! I wish I could show everyone in person what they look like because they are totally gorgeous!

I am trying to raise as much as possible by Thursday because I will be sending a wire to Uganda on Friday. As of this moment, the women have earned $82 from the sells of their items. I hope to be able to send them at least $200 on Friday.

Who are you helping by buying the MIC items?

Miracles In Caring is about giving parents the tools they need to provide for their families. In Uganda, for example, a years long civil war has left many children father-less and without homes. These families have moved to the capital city Kampala to escape the violence in Northern Uganda. When the families finally made it to Kampala, they found they had no skills to compete for the jobs there. These women and their families were farmers, and self-sufficient in Northern Uganda. Now, they are without land, and live in whatever home they can put together with the scraps they find.


These hard-working women have found one job that will take them in. This job is breaking rocks from big pieces to smaller piece. They sit down in the rock quarry and hammer at the rocks all day long. For 12 hours of work, they make about 50 cents! To do the math for you, that is 4 cents an hour!!

Because the pay is so small, most mothers HAVE to include their children in the work. Instead of going to school, the children break rocks right alongside their mothers to put food on the table. These are not bad mothers who want to get rich off of their children. These are mothers who have two choices: put their children to work alongside them, or watch their children starve to death!!

Their children should be in school, there is no doubt about that. An education is the key to breaking out of poverty. The problem is that these children are just trying to survive. When you don't even know if you will have enough to eat one meal the next day, it is a matter of survival. What good is an education if you will be dead from lack of food and dehydration tomorrow?

Our organization is going to change the lives of these women and their families. We have set them up with a business that isn't so back-breaking, and gives them more profit. This will allow their children to attend school, and allow the mothers to have the resources they need to take care of their families.

They have already lived through a civil war- Now it is time to restore their peace of mind!
