Fundraiser Update

I want to pass on this great news! We have two fundraisers that are almost completed! I know there are lots of fundraisers going, and it feels like you are being pulled in a million different directions! Please consider giving to these fundraisers. We have over 20 children waiting in line for their turn to come up on the MAC waiting list!!

I have had some requests for a MAC fundraiser, but to be honest, at this point, there is no way can expect to be able to provide any more children with a fundraiser. We will have to come up with some big ideas to get these fundraisers moving. I do not want to disappoint any of the children on our waiting list!

If you can help, please donate to our 2 current fundraisers. Once these fund, we will be able to get 2 more children's fundraisers launched! Thank you for your continued support!

Franklin's needs $125- to donate, click here
Brenda's needs $90- to donate, click here
(on the note of Child Hope Zambia, the above child is available for sponsorship on www.childhopezambia.blogspot.com )

Brenda is soooo Close!

Thanks to a $50 donation just received, we are $50 closer to our goal. Brenda only needs $130 more to complete her fundraiser!!! That is only $10 each from 13 people. That can be done! To help with her fundraiser, make a donation here

Meet Ivin Nkolola

Isn't she a cutie!?
Chim asked the girl what her name was and she told him she was Ivin Nkolola and attends one of the CHILDHOPE Supported ECCDE centers in Simwaba. Asked how she would like to be supported in school. Ivin told him that she would like a school uniform, books and shoes.

ECCDE Children Playing

These are the children that are part of one of the Early Child Education program. It looks like they could use some new toys! They are still completely precious!

Meet Ashes Munyumbwe #10

This is my sponsor child Ashes Munyumbwe. He is 13 years old and in the 6th grade. It is amazing how video changes the child so much. He looked quiet and reserved in his photo and even quite young. Now he looks out-going and like a young man! Wow!

A Thank You to the Sponsors!

Summer Reading Package Received~ Erick in Ecuador

A post from Sara S:
These are the pictures I received with Erick's thank you letter from his summer reading package. Erick is 6 years old and lives in Ecuador. Based on his skinned knee, it looks like he's a very active young man. His thank you note, written by his aunt, reads:

"Hello sponsor! I greet you lovingly. Erick thanks you for the letter, the books and the stuffed animal, which are very nice. He liked the gifts you sent him. I hope you are healthy. Let me tell you he had lots of fun during the school vacations. The whole family went to the countryside where there is a very beautiful river. We took a ride on a boat with oars. He played, sang and had a great time with everyone else ... "

Direct Package to Leydi in the Dominican Republic

I was very happy to get these pictures from Leydi- She is wearing a dress that I sent her in a different package :o) Isn't that always exciting!? She always seems very excited when she gets packages- Which makes me want to keep sending them! LOL!

Here is what her letter said:

Dear sponsor,

"Thanks for the nice presents you sent me. I am sorry you are not working but I know you will find work because you are a good person to me. May God bless you a lot. Thanks for the clothes, the books, the toys, candies, the nice letter, and other items sent..."

Since this is such a new program, I know it is hard for every one to know exactly what to expect from it. However, you have already seen a great program this past year will all that the Make a Change group has done- This is just another arm of the same group. This is our sponsorship program! A child sponsorship program set up with the sponsor in mind!!

The children are scheduled to write at the least 4 times a year! The first time they will be writing is this coming month- the month of June! Even the children that can not write have some great letter templates that will allow you to get to know them. The Zambia team will help all of those that can't write with their letter writing.

Along with the letter writing coming up in a few weeks, there will, also, be an all out photo shoot! The children sponsored in May get their uniforms in June, so they will be photographed with those. Any child who has received a package will be photographed with their package as well.

This is an awesome program! If you would like to sponsor one of these children, you can sign up to sponsor them for $9 a month on the CHZ blog There are lots of children waiting for a sponsor like you!! None of your money goes to pay employees- we are doing this because we love helping the children and their families. You get to see exaclty where your money is going. Check out the "Gift Distribution" posts on the CHZ blog to see what your money buys. 100% of the money goes to help the children!

Summer Reading Package Received~ Maynor in Honduras

A post from Sara S:
This is 8 year old Maynor from Honduras. He sent a thank you letter, written by a friend, for the summer reading package.
The letter reads:
"Hi! How are you doing? I wish that you are in good health along with your dear family. I tell you that Maynor received the gift and he says that it's very pretty. He will take care of the gifts. He will also enjoy the gifts with his sister Adilenia. I tell you that he was on vacations from school because here we celebrate Easter and he spent a good time with his family. I say goodbye with love"

Update on the iGive Check

Well, I have been waiting and waiting for this iGive check! I thought it was coming on the 15th, but as of today the 26th, it is still not here... So, I decided to check out the account and see what's going on. I guess I miscalculated because according the the iGive account, the $51.39 is going to be in the May 31st check. That would mean the check would be here the middle of June. Well, wishful thinking on my part because I thought we had already waited long enough. Sorry to disappoint because I know everyone is anxious to see those funds get into the fundraisers. The good news is we don't have too much longer to wait now :o)

Nestor's Grocery Store

A post from Sara S:

Nestor's family has completed construction of the grocery store! I am very excited for them! Hopefully the IGP will help improve his family's income. Nestor sent a really nice thank you letter:
"I greet you affectionately, wishing that you are in good health and at the same time thank you for making come true the project of the grocery store, and I decided to put your name on the grocery store in your honor, I will start to work with it, I will tell you more about the project in future letters, and my family and me [pray for you]. I say goodbye with much affection and thankfulness, Nestor"
I'm not sure who most the people in the pictures are. I believe the woman in red is his mother, and I know the little girl in orange is his only sister. The other people must be extended family. I was happy to "meet" them all through pictures.

Grandmother with the 11 children she cares for

This woman is the care-taker of 11 children. You can see some of the children seated beside her as she prepares a meal. She needs support in paying for their education and the things they need to go to school. She is having a hard time providing enough food for everyone. The children are part of the feeding program which provides them with breakfast and lunch at school. This has helped ease the burden of taking care of so many children at an old age. She would like to have sponsors for all 11 of the children. To sponsor a child with Child Hope Zambia for only $9 a month, please visit: www.childhopezambia.blogspot.com

This is a very special family, and they need some super-special sponsors!! The reason I am singling out this family is because they are in a desperate situation. The children are dealing with much more than other children their age normally go through. Some of them have already lost their parents, and others of them are watching their parents die. They need a friend that they can rely on and offer words of comfort and support. The good news is that 2 children from this family group have found sponsors. I sponsor one boy from this family, and another person in our group sponsors one girl from this family. Please help us show our support and open arms to these children! They really need you!

I will be sending out a second package of Ty beanie bears to the children sponsored from now until May 31st. You can choose the bear you would like to send your sponsored child, and you can even send them a letter! To see the teddy bears available, click here

Feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. I look forward to having a group of us lift this family up and show them how much they are loved!!

A Letter from Mario's Mom

Dear Madrina Barbara Rogers

I am happy to be able to write to you and tell you about Mario. He is in good health and, thanks to God, he is doing very well. Mario wants me to ask you how you are doing, that God blesses you and he is very happy and thankful because you take such good care of him. Well, our Pastor also sends you many blessings that God will help you always prosper.

We thank you for all benefits we have received from you, such as clothes, gifts, medical care for Mario's health. I thank you enormously for your love for Mario.

Ana Delgado, the mother of Mario says goodbye to you.'

I wanted to feature one extended family all in one post. The benefit of doing this is that you can see who is living with whom, and can sponsor children in the same family, or even share a family with a friend. A lot of the children live with relatives, but that is all completely normal in Zambian life. The family is not just the mother father and children. The family includes cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, etc. It is interesting to note that in most cases, they do not differentiate between cousin and sibling/ father and uncle/ mother and aunt.

I will be sending out a second package of Ty beanie bears to the children sponsored from now until May 31st. You can choose the bear you would like to send your sponsored child, and you can even send them a letter! To see the teddy bears available, click here
