Gema (8) and Crystal (12) are two sisters that live in Guatemala city. Gema is sponsored by Su and Crystal is sponsored by Su's boyfriend: Bernardo.When Su started sponsoring Gema, back in March 2008, both their parents worked as office workers. Some months later Bernardo started sponsoring Crystal, which was probably a relief for the family.However, in August 2008, their baby brother was born and the family income dropped to half due to the fact that the mother, Julia, stopped working.
