Fundraiser #25 for Leydi has launched!

Leydi's "bedroom" is a small space shut off from the rest of the house by sheets hung from the ceiling. It is just big enough for some clothes which she keeps in a hamper, and a "bed" (shown below) that is just a worn rug on the floor.

This was one of the first pictures I received of Leydi when I first started sponsoring her a year and a half ago. She was living with her grandmother and some of her cousins while her father struggled at home with his illness (above)
Leydi is finally back in her father's home along with her sister and step mother. Her father is still sick, but with her step mother's help, he is able to care for his daughters (above). While this is great news, I am extremely afraid of the hurt and unknown that is ahead for Leydi. Will her step mother still care for her once her father passes away? I hope so! She is one of those children that you just can not do enough for!
Leydi and her sister are always together. Whenever I send packages, her sister is in the photos usually. Leydi has invited her sister and a few friends to her small birthday party, which I hope to provide her with using some of the funds in this project.

Leydi has been waiting her turn on the fundraiser list for almost a year now!! Her special needs breakdown was actually much higher than what out MAC fundraiser $350 max will provide. Unfortunately, I do not have extra money to give her all that she needs, but this will give her a good start!

Leydi is such a sweet child, though she has been through and continues to go through things that many of us will never experience in out lifetimes!!! Her mother got very sick a few years ago, and things went downhill from there. Her mother's sickness finally took her life. Shortly thereafter, Leydi was enrolled in the CI program. Part of the program provided her with a doctor's checkup. The doctor wanted to get a better look at her protruding belly button. She will need surgery for that, but in the process, the doctor found that Leydi was sicker than her family knew. What a blow! Leydi had just lost her mother- she finds out she will need surgery- she finds out that she has a life-threatening illness- her father becomes very ill- she has to leave her father to live with her grandmother.

And through it all, you will always see a big smile on this beautiful girl's face!! I hope you can help me bring some more big smiles to her face! If you can help, please donate to her fundraiser here

Thank you for sharing this information about Leydi. I will keep her and her family in my prayers, and will also try to send a little when I can. She is a very pretty little girl and I know she has a strong spirit. God bless.
